The Legal Rails of Threat and Risk Assessment; Balancing Student, Parent, Staff, and Community Rights and Interests
You regularly receive requests for information relating to risk and threat assessment, and we worry, daily, about every school administrator's worst nightmare - real threat to our learning communities. What are the legal "rails" regarding information sharing when there is a real, or perceived, threat to the safety and security of our learning environments? Does everyone have access to student email? Writing? What about staff email? Google searches? Is HIB different? Does it make it different who/what asks? And how? This engaging and entertaining lecture, delivered by a nationally recognized litigator and professor of School Law, will provide turnkey, practical advice regarding access and information sharing.

Activate Your Heroic Teaching / Leading / Learning Potential: The Modern Educator’s Toolbox to Excel Anywhere
This presentation will distill the wisdom contained within the Heroic Training Platform to optimize any educator’s potential to teach, lead, and learn. Here, participants will learn the “ultimate game,” which is to close the gap between who we are as educators and whom we could be moment-to-moment. During the presentation, participants will identify specific factors in their work-life (and life-life!) that push for energy and balance that enhance our day-to-day interactions with our work and our school community members.
Being an educator is tough (!!) in 2023 and forecasters suggest that there is no respite in sight. If that is the case, we must activate our Heroic potential by forging anti-fragile confidence - a confidence that urges us to get excited (perhaps even re-excited!) about our work and to silently say, “bring it on!” In our educational dichotomy, we have the choice of reacting or creating. This presentation will give participants the ability to create agency within the parameters of their professional responsibilities.
Specifically, participants will work toward understanding in the following areas: Enervators VS Energizers, Building Masterpiece Days, Strategizing AM / PM Bookends, WOOP: Wish/Outcome/Obstacle/Plan, Transforming into the Best Version of Yourself Moment to Moment, Create a Win with Algorithmic Thinking, and Playing the Equanimity Game by experiencing higher highs and higher lows.
