Unlock Your Full Leadership Potential as an Educational Leader

District leaders are expected to be everything to everyone—visionaries, problem-solvers, crisis managers, and educational leaders. But who’s helping you stay at the top of your game?

The best leaders in business, government, and education don’t succeed alone—they have trusted advisors, sounding boards, and strategic partners who help them see blind spots, refine their approach, and lead with even greater impact. That’s where executive coaching comes in.

Here’s why YOU, as an educational leader, need coaching:

    • Navigate Complexity with Confidence
Education is more challenging than ever—shifting policies, community pressures, staffing shortages. A coach provides you with strategies to lead decisively in uncertain times.

    • Accelerate Your Leadership Growth
Even the most experienced educational leaders have areas to refine—whether it’s board relations, team dynamics, or strategic vision. A coach helps sharpen your leadership edge.

    • Prevent Burnout & Sustain High Performance
The demands on educational leaders are relentless. Coaching helps you stay energized, focused, and effective without sacrificing your well-being.

    Keynote Speaker: Principal Wayman

Linda Cliatt-Wayman (Doctor of Education) is a renowned education leader with an unwavering belief in the potential of all children. She uses her decades of experience to move educational leaders from knowledge to practice in ways that are transformative for children through on-site leadership development series, convenings, and keynote addresses. She grew up in poverty in North Philadelphia, where she experienced firsthand the injustice perpetrated against poor students in their education. Cliatt-Wayman vowed to dedicate her life to helping as many children as possible to escape poverty through education. Her powerful leadership and success of her students caused people to take notice. Her acclaimed 2015 TED Talk has been viewed over two million times. She has been featured by Diane Sawyer on ABC World News Tonight and Nightline. Her book, Lead Fearlessly, Love Hard (2017), is beloved by educators. In 2016, she was named a Top 50 Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize out of over 8,000 nominees from around the world. Above all, Cliatt-Wayman said she is driven by her love for children. She ended her morning announcements to her students each day by saying, “If no one told you they loved you today, remember I do and always will.”

Find the Money: Leveraging High Acuity Clinical Mental Health Care for Sustainable Programming

This presentation will explore how integrating high acuity clinical mental health care within a district creates sustainable, long-term solutions for the highest-need students while addressing chronic absenteeism.  By embedding intensive supports, districts achieve a win-win-win:  students receive critical mental health care, overwhelmed staff benefit from a human capital windfall, and districts realize financial savings by reducing costly out-of-district placements.  Additionally, we will examine how targeted clinical interventions can re-engage chronically absent students, improving attendance and academic success.  Attendees will leave with a roadmap for sustainable, impactful mental health integration that strengthens district capacity and budget efficiency.

Dealing with Challenging Constituents:  Strategies for School Leaders

Have you ever found yourself dreading meetings or phone calls with aggressive stakeholders?  Navigating the complexities of educational leadership requires more than just management skills—it demands emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and strategic engagement.

In this session, "Dealing with Challenging Constituents," superintendents and school leaders will explore proven techniques for maintaining composure, engaging effectively with difficult individuals, and redirecting tensions toward productive, process-driven solutions.

Led by Dr. Mark Schwarz, a seasoned superintendent known for bringing order to organizations in conflict, and supported by his longtime colleague, Dr. Frank Santora, this session will draw from both research and real-world experience.  Through practical scenarios—whether facing an unreasonable union leader, an adversarial board trustee, a litigious parent, or an insubordinate direct report—participants will gain actionable strategies to manage conflict, set healthy boundaries, and lead with confidence in high-pressure situations.

Harnessing AI and Neuroscience for Personalized Guidance that Complements School Counseling

Nearly 75% of students feel lost about their postsecondary plans.  Neuroscience offers lessons for how to engage students for better outcomes like mental wellness, attendance and academic performance.  Building on these insights, AI can then personalize guidance to enhance student agency and promote better student-counselor relationships.  A cognitive scientist from MIT and Yale and a superintendent of schools from NJ together will discuss how these lessons were put into practice in a recent pilot at Highland Park High School supported by the U.S. Department of Education.

The totality of comprehensiveness that sets Barnegat’s work-based learning program is at the forefront of pathways to independence.  We provide work-based learning choices from a variety of vocational offerings.  We have an astounding 60 partnerships to choose from.  We also have students that are paid for their employment.

Some pathways that Barnegat Township has with our work-based learning program:  We have students enrolled in the Pre-College Summer Program at The College of New Jersey and enrolled in Project SEARCH at Community Medical Center which is a 10 month transition-to-work initiative, we have Dual Enrollment between OCTVS and work-based learning placements, we have successfully utilized all aspects of PRE-ETS including but not limited to the utilization of public transportation, i.e. uber, access link, and NJ Transit, we teach self-advocacy skills that allow our students to make and attend appointments, we have students who safely navigate independent living through DVRS as well as on their own and teach the students how to open bank accounts and/or utilize banking apps such as Chime to have their employment checks directly deposited, and have a partnership with supported employment services such as Waters Sims as well as MOCEANS which allows our students to get pre-employment training, as well as paid internships for participation in the program.

Calm in the Chaos:  Navigating Behavior Management in Today's Schools

School districts are facing increased numbers of students who engage in severe and dangerous behaviors.  Social/ emotional and mental health challenges are pervasive in both the special and general education population.  Policy makers provide regulations and guidance, but there is often a disconnect between what educators actually face in the day to day management of student behavior.  Districts face increased scrutiny and pressure to manage student behavior without utilizing restraint and seclusion.  How do we reconcile focusing on student and staff safety while working within the vague guidelines of restraint and seclusion?  This workshop will attempt to bridge this gap and provide school leaders with specific strategies and options to maintain safety while preserving the dignity of students.

Media Communications During a School Crisis

During this session, the presenters will share how effective communication from a school leader during a crisis is crucial for providing clear direction and ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.  By offering transparent, timely updates, a leader builds trust and helps prevent panic, while ensuring trust in their abilities for all parties, so they are informed and aligned in their responses.  Communication also plays a key role in coordinating resources and support, fostering unity, and reassuring the community that the situation is being handled.  Ultimately, a school leader’s communication helps guide the school through the crisis and contributes to recovery and reflection afterward.
